Amalfi is one of the most popular destinations for tourists worldwide
Every year thousands of visitors come to discover its beauty and are enchanted by it. The unique panorama of the Amalfi Coast and its attractions make a stay in Amalfi unmissable. If you are our guests, we will help you discover all the wonders of our city
must-see attractions in Amalfi
In Amalfi, you must visit the Duomo, whose construction began in the 9th century and which houses the relics of Saint Andrew the Apostle. From the top of a majestic staircase, Amalfi Cathedral dominates the town’s main square. Inside, you will be greeted by high coffered ceilings decorated by artists from the Neapolitan school and a silver statue of the saint. In the same area as the cathedral, don’t miss the Basilica del Crocifisso, where the cathedral’s treasure is on display, and the enchanting Chiostro del Paradiso, the final resting place for Amalfi dignitaries.
Traces of the Maritime Republic’s past are still present in the alleys and narrow streets of Amalfi, but the most important testimony remains the Ancient Arsenal, which has now been transformed into a museum and hosts exhibitions and cultural events. The cross vault and architecture, which have remained unchanged since the Middle Ages, are splendid.
Nature has been generous to the Amalfi people and has also given this land another wonder that is a must-see: the Emerald Grotto. This is a natural cave located a few kilometers from the center of Amalfi, in the locality of Capo di Conca. It offers a spectacle of crystal clear waters with surprising emerald reflections. Don’t miss the limestone formations that resemble animals and people. At the bottom lies a ceramic nativity scene from Vietri that welcomes the birth of Jesus every Christmas.
Gastronomy
Amalfi is also famous for its high-quality cuisine. Here, you can taste authentic traditional dishes from Campania and the local area that are still prepared according to our mothers’ recipes.
Our cuisine is one of the area’s highlights, thanks to the quality of local products such as mozzarella from Agerola and Tramonti, vegetables grown in gardens carved into the rock, and DOC wine.
To experience our region’s cuisine, we recommend L’Abside Restaurant, just steps from our B&B. Don’t miss the eggplant parmesan prepared according to a family recipe or the fish dishes.
